4 Day Ayahuasca & Huachuma (San Pedro) Retreat

The retreat starts Thursday afternoon. All participants are asked to be present at 3 PM.

The retreat is held in a unique place in the middle of nature. Before the ceremony begins, we will welcome you on our houseboat. While enjoying a cup of tea, we start with a small introduction round. Afterwards there is room to ask questions and change clothesif you like.

The ceremony lasts an average of six hours. When this is ending, there is fruit salad and later a delicious hot meal prepared by our private cook.

Prior to the retreat we will inform you about the easiest way to get here and if necessary we can pick you up from Amsterdam central station.

About Ayahuasca and Huachuma/San Pedro

Where ayahuasca is experienced as a strong feminine energy from a mother, San Pedro has the masculine energy of a gentle grandfather. Although San Pedro and Ayahuasca differ in their effects and healing methods, they complement each other perfectly during a multi-day retreat.

Ayahuasca gives you deep and beautiful insights into yourself, your challenges and problems and shows you what you could change.

San Pedro (Huachuma) opens your heart to love and peace with everyone and everything around you and empowers you to make the change you have seen with Ayahuasca.

Huachuma is a little softer, more positive, more loving and more deeply transformative when combined with Ayahuasca. If you want to hold on to the state of bliss that you get from your Ayahuasca experience for longer, if you want to further shape it and fully integrate it into your daily reality, then San Pedro is the perfect complement for this.

San Pedro is used for the healing of mental, physical, mental, spiritual and emotional ailments. Through the wisdom of this sacred medicine, you will find peace and tranquility and feel one with creation again.

I've been lucky enough to attend three retreats within a couple of months, journeying on Ayahuasca and San Pedro (which I totally recommend as a magical duo, in consecutive days), and it has given me a world of insights and opportunities to heal and grow.
Some people have deep visions and receive amazing stories during their journey, while for me it was more of an incredibly deep physical experience. There was bliss, and there was hardship, and the medicine always surprised me. It's so intelligent and always knows where to take you, and all of that needs a safe and secure environment, which is fully provided by Margriet and her amazing guides.
Being guided by the people from Ancient Mother is everything you need to completely surrender to the journey. They know how to tune in fully and are always aware of what's going on, when you need assistance, a gentle hand on your shoulder, or a deeply felt embrace. The guides complement the medicine perfectly, and they really take care of their guests during the whole ceremony.
Margriet is an extraordinary, strong woman who generously shares her love for the medicine and all her guests, while never losing her great sense of humor and joy. She's succeeded in creating a unique place where you not just feel at home, but also profoundly assisted in whatever happens. The location is amazing, the food is nourishing, and since there are never more than six guests, the whole experience feels very intimate, safe, and rewarding.
Ancient Mother is highly recommended for a million different reasons, it's a special place where lives are changed and emotions can run freely. I felt at home, appreciated, and totally supported during my visit, which makes all the difference. Although it was quite challenging for me at times (I mean: REALLY), I received so much good energy and love, exactly when I needed it the most.
If you have the opportunity to do two days of Aya, followed by a day of San Pedro (or Huachuma), don't miss that opportunity. They are both very different, but work perfectly back-to-back.

Mijn ervaring bij Ancient Mother was onbeschrijfelijk mooi en transformatief. Ik koos voor een privé sessie met 2 Ayahuasca ceremonies. Margriet begeleidde me en ik voelde me meteen thuis bij haar. What a beautiful retreat, I have had two retreats with them and they have helped me tremendously. I'm now more at peace with my self and the team of Margriet, Harold and Susanne put so much care and attention into your journey and your stay.
Its a cozy house boat with a beautiful view of the country side and so peaceful. You can also enjoy are nice swim in the river and the food is so tasty. If your looking for an intermate aya retreat this this the place to go, I highly recommend it.

An ayahuasca journey is a personal, intimate and vulnerable experience. I am so happy that I chose Margriet, Susan and Harold as my guides. It is hard to put words to the entire journey, but I could not have felt more safe and supported throughout. First of all, the setting is as peaceful as it gets, even though it is only a few minutes from Amsterdam. Even though I did not eat much, the food was fresh, wholesome and delicious. But what really stands out about the whole experience is the wonderful energy that Margriet, Susan and Harold brought. Margriet is a fantastic guide who had me fully prepared. I could level with her during the weekend, and her input made me understand elements of my trip so much better. Susan is a radiant personality with a high level of expertise about the Ayahuasca and health in general. And last but not least Harold; a calming and reassuring presence throughout.

I had the most incredible experience with Ancient Mother. Margriet is a born Shaman and Renate an angel on earth. The care, love and attention I received before and during the retreat made my journey 100% safe and life changing. The setting is a beautiful canal boat house surrounded by endless green fields, blooming flowers (in the summer) and retired horses. Samba (the cat) is a real character and will make a lot of cameo appearances that will steal your heart. The food is delicious. If all this wasn't enough already, you are also getting amazing support and tips for integration after the retreat. All in all, a priceless experience I cannot recommend enough. Attending an Ayahuasca Ceremony

Facilitated by an experienced Guide, an ayahuasca ceremony is conducted within a ceremonial framework.

The voyage stimulated by ayahuasca extends for approximately five to six hours, leading you through a profound expedition. The return to normal consciousness takes time, leaving a lasting impression. Although ayahuasca’s effects vary for each individual, many report heightened clarity, a deeper self-connection, an enhanced bond with nature, and a heightened awareness of their life’s purpose upon reintegration.

The Huachuma or San Pedro cactus

The Huachuma or San Pedro cactus originates from South America. It is considered one of the greatest plant teachers in shamanic traditions and is used to restore psychological, physical, emotional and spiritual balance.

It helps to awaken, to heal and to learn to see what gets in your way. In the right setting, taken in a respectful manner and with the right intention, Huachuma puts you in a state of consciousness where you can experience a deeper connection with yourself, your body and your own divine nature for several hours.

Huachuma is a plant with special healing powers. It gives you a solid physical grounding, which gives a new dimension to being in the here and now.
